“His feeling for the emotional themes of Dvorak's work, his excellent technique and the sweetly reflective tone he produced in the adagio would alone have earned him the rich applause that greeted his performance.”

- Manchester Evening News

Antonio Lysy played with verve, authority and immaculate phrasing.”

- La Stampa

WATCH/LISTEN

“Serious, composed, he expressed himself with a rare serenity, perfect in rhythm with a warm full sound. A name to remember!”

- Corriere della Serra

ACCLAIM

Eric Zeisl - UCLA Philharmonia

"The tragic and folksy qualities that pervade much of Zeisl's music can also be heard in the Concerto grosso for cello and orchestra, an alluring work he wrote in the mid-1950s for Gregor Piatigorsky. The bold soloist here is Antonio Lysy, who manages the tricky writing with aplomb and teams vibrantly with the UCLA players and conductor Stulberg."

- Donald Rosenberg, Gramophone

Tchaikovsky Spectacular

“Antonio has almost a regal air about him as he presents the opening theme and variations that often test the artists abilities as they were played with an ease of execution and always with sincerity. The audience was on its feet at the end of the performance.”

- Geoffrey Maingart, hollywoodtoday.net

Le Salon de Musiques

“Antonio Lysy, internationally celebrated cellist and teacher at UCLA, performed with impeccable elegance and total commitment. Partnered with equal grace on the piano by Steven Vanhauwaert, both artists created a mood, enunciating the austere and spiritual essence of Bach's work, before changing over to the robust and romantic style of the Schumann piece.”

- Ahdda Shur, Examiner.com

Antonio Lysy at the Broad - Music from Argentina

“If this recording doesn't move you emotionally you are brain dead. If you don't agree that this is one of the finest recordings you have ever heard, your system needs to go in for repairs.”

-Michael Fremer, Music Angle

Bach to Berio

"Lysy plays the Bach preludes with remarkable spontaneity, yet with an innate appreciation of their architecture, and he realises Bach's harmonic texture and contrapuntal strands with the utmost clarity."

- The Strad

“He is a great artist. A brilliant virtuoso.”

- Politiken (Cophenhagen)

“Violoncelliste absolument complet, Lysy fait sans cesse admirer une intonation irréprochable, une sonorite aristocratique, une musicalité et une concentration qui retiennent constamment l'attention.”

- La Presse

TEACHING

Ever since I was 12 years old and in the early days of my musical studies at the Yehudi Menuhin School in England, I have been fascinated with the process and notion of teaching. The idea of passing on a legacy through performance practice, and being part of an aural tradition entrusted to me by masters of the instrument is somewhat magical. It is the creation and preservation of history.
